RHIAN WILSON RUGE
Scriptwriting
Rhian has written script works across forms including playwriting, screenwriting and sketch comedy.

Her first full length play, Crash Pad, premiered at the Melbourne Fringe Festival. Performed at The Butterfly Club, Crash Pad explored the impacts of invisible illnesses on the lives of young women, and the strength of friendship that can be fostered through shared experience.
Rhian has a laughable (in a good way) portfolio of sketch comedy writing which has been staged at The Improv Conspiracy, both individually and as a writer and performer in the House Sketch Program.
She has recently worked with BackYard Theatre Ensemble as a creator and dramaturg on Traces of Vanishing (Die Spur des Verschwindens), a co-production with Jahrmarkttheater Bostelwiebeck, Wheels Berlin and Ruess and Vetter, which was performed in Northern Germany in mid-2023.

Rhian has been diving head first into writing for Film and Television, spurred by her major work for her Master of Theatre (Writing) program at the VCA, television comedy series Long Hall. Yes, she wrote a TV series for her Theatre writing degree. It was lockdown. She has been a writer on Season 5 of the popular online series Flunk, and has been a note taker for projects in development for Werner Film Productions.

She is currently developing a disability-focused web series, Dismissable. After early support from the City of Melbourne, Rhian and the Dismissable team have been selected to bring the project to the Screen Australia and SBS Digital Originals initiative.
